You taught us our beauty was a curse not a privilege
and by that passed this ancient curse onto us
Cursed to be forever fearful of the man
(* a loose abstraction of a monster who’s violence survives inside of you,
nurturerd by the walls of silence you have built around him)
Cursed to be hiding myself in these waters of guilt and shame
that you too were told to dwell in
Instead of seeing the embodied power that I am
So much more than them
Cursed to abide by laws that were made to destroy you
In controlling suffocation
/ we will no longer abide by laws made to destroy us
For we have torn down those walls around us / him
*Also sensitivity is a gift
people are shamed for it because it is scary to those who found suppression as a useful coping mechanism since it allows you to function in capitalism
And Stockholm Syndrom comes easier than rebellion
They are less scared of us than they’re scared of themselves
I too have been scared of myself and my feelings my whole life because of how society and my immediate surrounding treated my sensitivity
But I will no longer hide and neither should you
